I'm a Creative Director, Designer, Father, Husband and Jealous Lover located in London, England.

Everything I love is either related to my family, advertising, digital-stuff, sunny days, technology, design, OCD, cats and being bad in bed.

I'm a Creative Director at CHI&Partners in London focusing on bringing Digital love to everything we can. It's the perfect London agency – Independent enough, Creative as shit and Smart as fuck.

This blog is for me to catalog things I like as I will totally forget it an hour later. It's not meant to be one of those sites where people post cool work that they didn't do to seem like they're talented. It's just for me to celebrate work that inspires me to do better, more innovative thinking.

You can follow my ass on Twitter if ya want so you know when I post or Pinterest if your interested.

I'm always up for meeting new folk over a pint or coffee, so connect with me if ya wanna do some talkin.

APPLE // Things I wish for (but won't get)

I know, I know, Apple's gonna do the iPad 2 thing, maybe some MobileMe cloud love with Photo and Music integration, talk a little about FaceTime, possibly do the 'Year of the Cloud (or maybe iOS)" thing and could upgrade iWork on iOS and MacOS to be more cloud-based and maybe, just maybe, wrap a social element into it all.

But what about some of the obvious ones that I'd love to see beyond that?

THE DOUBLE-SIDED IPHONE: iPhone 360’
The iPhone should have a screen and camera on both sides. Once they get rid of the one button and replace it with gestures, it should be a done deal

To name a few uses:

  • FaceTime: When I do this with my family back in the states with my 6 month old boy, he needs to see them and they need to see him, but I want to see them too. No more of me, my wife and boy I trying to fit in one frame. We just hold the iPhone between us and they see 2 streams on the other side. Easy.
  • Games: Let’s say you wanna do flashcards with your kids on Math. You have the answer on one side, they have the equation on the other. Or learning a language? Or Battleship!
  • Personas: One screen could be your social and personal life with apps and homescreens with your feeds up so you don’t have to go into each app. The other screen could be work. Or games. Or your kids with their games.

VIDEO PROFILE PICS

Imagine when you get a phone call from your friend and on the screen is a looping video instead of a static image. You have this amazing screen and camera, but for some reason you can’t quickly capture a video profile pic. Make it happen, it’s a no-brainer that’s been on my brain since the first iPhone.

APP BUILDER: iApp

I always thought iWeb was amazing, but it came too late and MySpace, Twitter and Facebook had beaten them to the self-publishing punch. I feel that I should be able to create apps but not need to know code. I use Xcode and to be honest it’s half drag’n’drop. Go 90% drag-n-drop for a iApp application and have an advanced option. No offence developers, but you’re a small percentage of the creative force that makes the world go around. Apps would progress much faster with all of us creatives creating them.

Making money? Ok so developers could build custom components that are easy to restyle and access API with a click. They charge for those complex technologies. That’s pretty much what apps are now.

APPLE ID > iPay

So Apple is well positioned to own the real PayPal. Your iTunes account (now called Apple ID) is already used to buy Music, Movies, Books, Apps and now Subscriptions. And guess what, everyone loves it! It works perfectly. One click and I’m done. So let’s break this out further and extend it as an API for all App developers at a minimum. Any App that I can purchase stuff in, I can use my iPay account, which is built into my iOS device.

I know there have been rumours of Contactless payment chips being put in the iPhone 5, well that works even better. Connect my bank to my iPay account and I’m rocking my single source payment system online and offline.

iOS Passwords

This is a little one, but doesn’t it drive you crazy that Apple knows that you use Social Tools but doesn’t store your login details globally in the OS? It drives me crazy every time I tweet something on my iPad and I have login by typing out my user name and password. At a minimum store them in Preferences and pre-populate the form. At a maximum, do it seamlessly when any prompt like that comes up or give developers some code to sniff if it’s iOS and then use an API to access the login and have a little iOS prompt come up for you to agree.

AppleTV Apps

This is the easiest of them all, but come on, let’s do it. You’ve got game center, the Box is running iOS, everyone has an iPhone, and iPads are made for made for Pictionary! Games on AppleTV using iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches is going to be sooo much fun for parties (and kids). We all know you’re gonna do it, so let’s go!

Wireless FaceTime Cameras (with night vision)

Right, I still think there is a role for cameras on TV’s even though you might think that FaceTime is better in your hand. There is still video conferencing and the fun of having a video on your TV. But more importantly, there are other uses for battery powered, wireless cameras that only Apple could design and build. Not the biggest idea, but I just want lots of little webcams that I can pop around.

  • Baby Cams
  • Webcams
  • Live Streaming
  • And a thousand other places you could put a wireless camera

SUMMARY

I hope we see some of these this year – or tomorrow! (not likely).

BTW, I love Apple products – I’m not meaning to bash them, just want things to move faster.
